Dirty Little Devil!

So I am a fairly healthy, normal, run-of-the-mill girl. I don't get sick very often, my blood is pure enough to donate often, and I'm not even allergic to anything.

Last Sunday {8 days ago [Camille, I used that beautiful bracket in honor of you] } I woke up with a COLD SORE! Of all things!!!!!! The little devil was there, on the top left portion of my lip--like he owned the place. Lest you be deceived, this was totally unexpected. This is cold sore #1 for me. I went 21 years, 8 months, 1 week, and 1 day cold sore free, and then BAM! one shows up.

DAY ONE
It started off really small and discrete like this. Not too bad. {I mean it was bad, but it wasn't as awful as it could have been [or would get...] }

DAY FIVE Little devil just got worse. Ugly, ugly, ugly!

DAY SIX
I think that this was the worst day of all! Bigger, uglier, and more painful than ever.
DAY SEVEN
This is today. You can't really tell from the picture, but it's much better today than it has been in the past. It isn't better yet, but it's on the way....

Stupid cold sore...

Pretty sure there's nothing that you can do to prevent cold sores, but do your very best to try not to get one: they are miserable--sent from Satan himself I think!

*******Disclaimer: I did not contract this from someone else as you may think! Tanner is the only boy I had been kissing and he has NEVER had a cold sore*******

Oh...my...gosh. Holy holy holy holy CRAP. That's wretched. I am so sorry for you. Does it hurt as bad as it looks? (You'd better believed I clicked on every one of those pictures to zoom in on the horror. I'm morbid like that.)

I send my love and regrets.

Although you probably don't realize that Geneva's sister occasionally blog stalks people, I thought I ought to impart of my cold sore knowledge. I have been a cold sore sufferer for about 8 years nows. In my stressful adult life and viral weakness, I've contracted many a cold sore, in every corner of my lips. If you at all find your cold sores becoming a problem, there exists a miracle drug. It's only by prescription called acyclovir. Next time you're at your doctor's ask him and one bottle can last for awhile. I take one any time I feel the tingle and if I start to get one, it's gone in 3 days. If it's not at that level, any drug store carried this awful smelling stuff called campo phenique. It keeps the virus from spreading and exploding like they do. It's way cheaper and more effective than abrevia. I should do commercials. Just a helpful hint! Once you get them, they are bound to happen again. :(

Lindsey,

You are not alone. My "female" doctor told me that more than 60% of the population has the herpes simplex virus (and most of them don't know it). I know...I know... It's gross- I've never had a cold sore in my life, but my test came back positive (I can't believe I just admitted that). I was shocked when she told me...shocked. Good luck!

Oh friend i am glad your cold sore is healing! I have never had one either and I hope I do not get one in the future! But it looks like it was painful, but hey its the best looking cold sore I've ever seen! I hope it gets better! :)

A cold sore is not a very Burnham thing to have happen to you. You should just use your Burnham Powers and make it go away. THat's what I would have done.

lindsey, I am so sorry, I have never had one of those (knock on wood)! It truely looks so painful, how could something so bad happen to someone so nice like yourself.
Good luck!

oh lindsey! i now have a fear in my life that i too will get a cold sore! i thought you were either a cold sore person or you weren't and if i haven't had one in my 22 years then i should be one the weren'ts. you have crushed my dreams of being cold sore free. and i am very very sorry that you had to experience this at all. i too enlarged every picture to get the full effect and it definitely wasn't pretty. i hope for everyone's sake (mostly yours) that it is now gone!

OUCH!!!!
But truly - the chronological pictures are my favorite. It really captures the awfulness of that wretched little beast. I hope it dies soon!

i used to get a lot of cold sores, and it all bubbled down to this for me: excess stress, eating poorly, not enough sleep, or certain times of the month if you know what i mean...i don't get them anymore except for rare times when i have way too much stress and nowhere near enough sleep. i've had friends get them randomly who never have before. lysine is a great preventative vitamin to help, and herpecin is a great lip balm if you ever get one again. cheers!
